John le Carré, the famous British author of espionage novels was born David John Moore Cornwell on October 19, 1931. He had difficult childhood, and the problems with his father were even included in some of his novels. In 1950, he joined the British Army Intelligence Corps and worked in Austria where he interrogated people who crossed the iron curtain. He is considered to be one of the greatest authors of spy fiction novels and a true chronicler of the Cold War. Happy Birthday!
